Jozetta STYCH
Jozetta Stych is a fiercely-independent Winnipeg-based painter, illustrator, portraitist, graphic designer, filmmaker, writer, leathercrafter, and musician with over thirty years of stellar achievements to mark her path. Jozetta was born in Montreal, Quebec in 1971 and raised in St. Boniface, Manitoba from the age of three. With a major in Painting and a minor in Artist Video/Intermedia at the Alberta College of Art (1989-94) and a lifetime of hands-on training with her designer parents, Ms. Stych has honed her sensibilities and skills both traditional and digital to a razor keen, producing such works as the Portrait of Louis Riel, the acclaimed neo-classical masterpiece AUFSTAND, the legendary Magnificent 7s "Dirty Roads" album cover, and the celebrated series of one-take Super 8 "Poor Andy" films. Jozetta has delighted audiences with her scintillating performances on the sitar, Afghan rubab, and the Dobro vina (her own invention) since returning to Winnipeg in 1995 after a five-year sojourn to Calgary, Alberta. She is currently hard at work on the next in an ongoing series of Manitoba-themed historical illustrations while completing work on a soon-to-be-released album of raucous, genre-bending protest anthems.
